Tara Glazier is ecstatic to have brought her dream to life.  She explains the manifestation of the studio as being an act of Grace.  At the time when Tara literally fell upon the current space of Abhaya Yoga, surprisingly, she was not looking to open a business.  With the perfect space set on the water, with a spacious, bird like view of Manhattan, Tara was swept with an idea to create something wonderful that she only considered lightly in the past.  Within just 6 weeks of seeing this awe invoking space, gathering information, a passionate team, and big vision, Abhaya Yoga was breathed into existence.  Abhaya was built with love from a community of people that believed in the vision and the idea of creating the first all Anusara studio in Brooklyn.

Tara moved to NYC 11 years ago, after completing a BFA in Dance Pedagogy from the University of Hartford/ Hartt School, to pursue dancing as a career.  She quickly fell in love with yoga and made it one of her life’s passions.  Always having an interest in business and potentially opening a studio of her own someday, Tara enrolled herself in a business program and received a minor degree from WIBO business school in New York ( 2007).  In addition, Tara, worked ardently to receive full Anusara Certification, which occurred in 2008, and has been traveling and teaching yoga full time ever since.  Continuing to enrich her education is a must and she travels often to study with teacher John Friend as well as other masters around the globe.  Tara is deeply invested in study of sacred texts as well as her practices of connecting to the Supreme, through the entire spectrum of life.

It is a great gift for Tara to create a home in Brooklyn where she has been building a community (kula) for the past 10 years.  Tara offers great thanks to her parents and to all of those that helped to create this vision.  Every night when she sees the lights of the city, the water, and the open hearted students before her, Tara, often in disbelief of what has come to be, becomes overcome with gratitude.    For more information about her workshops, immersions and also private instruction you can contact her at: tara@abhayayoga.com
