Yoga Spanda
with Anya Porter
Saturday September 18: 7-9 PM
Yoga spanda is an effort to create union (yoga) within our-Selves, as well as with gravity, music and our experience. We do this by weaving philosophy and specific structural principles of yoga together with music to inform a deeper understanding of our relationship to the floor and to rhythm, ultimately providing a foundation for the more dynamic movement of street dance (i.e. breakin’, house, rocking)
We start with a yoga sequence that clarifies and prepares for the dancing while we listen to the sounds of soul, funk, hip-hop, house and more played by a live DJ, thus giving us a more direct relationship to the music. We take the mats away and then begin our journey deeper into the floor, using asana as a springboard for understanding our relationship to gravity through footwork (six step, spins, cc’s, etc.), freezes (baby freeze, arm balances) and upright movement (uprock, toprock, jacking). Then we weave it all together and just dance…
We wrap this entire experience in the subtle and intrinsically affirming philosophy that says that we are all a part of a pulsation, a beat… a spanda. The music is always there within you, and expresses itself as you; come and get a little down in your dog…

Connecting to the Core
with Mark Shveima
Saturday September 25: 2-5 pm
In this workshop we will explore our relationship to the core of the body, mind, and heart through the practice of asana, awareness, and meditation. The core of the asana practice will consist of both standing and hand balances. This balance practice will be supported and augmented by sequences of hip and shoulder openers, to maximize the ability to balance with graceful ease. This session will culminate in a practice of yoga nidra. Yoga nidra means “sleep of the yogi”. It is a guided meditation in which you allow your awareness to open to, settle in, and abide as the unbounded nature of your deepest consciousness.
All levels of practitioners are welcome to attend. Bring your curiosity and sense of adventure!

with Jorja Rivero and Bhavani Lee
Indian Dance, Flowing Yoga, Sacred Mudra & Meditation
If you are feeling stuck in any area of your life or practice this is the workshop for you! Although we do not control every aspect of this life or what happens to us, we certainly have the freedom of choosing how we live.
Own your freedom, participate fully in your life, discover your open and aligned mind, heart, and body as the most empowered avenues of self-support. Goddess Saraswati aligns and unblocks us because she is the sacred river that runs deep into the sand of our being AND if we can stay open and receptive, that flow or freedom moves us to the core.
Come honor and embody Goddess Saraswati, and awaken a devotional yogic practice that is both steady as it is soft & clear as it is creative. In this two hour workshop we will incorporate ancient Indian dance, yoga flow, meditation, and devotional mudra practice. Be ready to sweat and to let go of anything that may be holding you back!
