Join Tara, Nancy and Jennifer for an Urban Retreat in Gowanus. This weekend of Self Care will allow you immerse yourself in therapeutic yoga, meditation and guided relaxation (yoga nidra) without having to leave the city. With the expertise in their fields, Tara, Nancy and Jennifer will seamlessly guide you toward greater freedom in your body, mind and heart. Learn tools for deep asana, meditation techniques, yoga nidra and Ayurveda that will help you find greater balance on and off the mat.

The heart will provide the focal point of the weekend. Often when we connect to our hearts, it’s to offer our love and compassion outward. Learning to stay in the heart, softening and connecting it towards ourselves, we begin to understand what it is to truly love.
Using the practices of asana, meditation, and nidra as tools, we immerse ourselves with our own unconditional love.

Yoga Nidra is the art of conscious relaxation. You will learn techniques which will allow you to reach new states of conscious awareness with acute perception of both your physical and subtle body. As you practice these techniques you will feel the flow of prana (energy) move through physical, emotional, and energetic blockages. The end result is the healing of the body and mind and the expansion of consciousness.

The weekend will include three meals, Group Reiki, & Energetic healings as well as the regular program offerings.

Tara Glazier, owner/ founder of Abhaya Yoga, created Abhaya with the mission to offer a safe, sacred, space for the empowerment and educational teachings of yoga. Tara has been a dedicated student and teacher of yoga for over 20 years. She has taught at Kripalu, Yoga Journal and offered retreats all over the world. It is her pleasure to bring the essence of retreat to her yoga home in Brooklyn for Urban Retreat.

Jennifer Dopierala

Jennifer Dopierala has been a healer since 2008 and is the founder of Tidal Heart Healing. Through her work, she helps people let go of limiting beliefs and energetic blocks. This helps them move — physically, emotionally and spiritually — with freedom and ease in their lives, while learning to love themselves just as they are. Her teaching uses somatic practices to access the body and the freedom, warmth and vitality available there. Also a certified meditation instructor and former teacher with a Master’s in Education, she has a depth of experience in creating an open space of compassion and listening. Nancy Rich, E-RYT 500, a graduate of SUNY Stony Brook with a dual bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies and Psychology, is a partner at Abhaya Yoga, BK., where she has received a 500 hr. Yoga Alliance Teaching Certification. Nancy is thrilled to be a representative for the California College of Ayurveda’s Classical Yoga Nidra Certification course, where she’s also enrolled in the Ayurvedic Health Counselor Program. Additionally, she has earned her E-RYT 500 hours; Yoga Alliance approved Restorative Teacher training and 100 hr. Anatomy & Therapeutics Certification; Ayurvedic Massage & Body Therapy Certification course and 126 hr. Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy Certification through The California College of Ayurveda. Nancy is a Reiki Practitioner, at the Master Level, of the Usui System, aromatherapy practitioner and delights in the ability to offer different healing modalities to her students.
