Headstand and Shoulder Stand Tutorial

Led by: Tara Glazier

From April 30, 2023 at 11:30 am until April 30, 2023 at 12:30 am at Dumbo

Iyengar, the great father of alignment based yoga in the West, named Headstand (shirshasana) and Shoulder stand (Sarvangasana) the King and Queen of the Asanas. He named this not only because of the physical prowess these poses require, but also because of the profound effect on the endocrine system and awakening of the upper glands (which affect all that is below). In open classes, there is rarely the time to break down these postures with the care that they need and as that pertains to the individual. We all (generally speaking) have 7 Cervical vertebrae, however the way that manifests in the body can be different based on lower body and shoulder patterns. Walk out of this tutorial with a better understanding of Upper body / neck health and alignment for your body. We will learn: how to weight bear safely, what is anatomical neutral for the upper body, how to utilize props, and what to do if these poses are not in the range of possibility but we want to learn variations/ modifications. All levels welcome to this eye opening workshop on two of the most potent poses in all of yoga. Find more stability and freedom within your being while gaining the physiological benefits of these King and Queen postures! *participants will be part of the larger Advanced Teacher Training weekend. The reduced price encourages all to come. The more the merrier as different patterns in the room will be informative for our TT’s getting trained in the 300 TT. $25/$35 Online/At the door
