Mark Dyczkowski was born in London in 1951. He begins to learn sitar and the classical music of North India in 1966. Starts to receive lessons in 1970 in Benares from Pandit Omir Bhattacarya, disciple of Asak Ali Khan, doyen of the varanasi sainya gharana. He has also studied with Dr. Gangrade, Dr. Rama Cakravarti, Ustad Imrat Khan and Buddhaditya Mukherjee, great exponents of the style of the family of the family of the illustrious Ustad Vilayat Khan called Imdadkhani.

He performed in public for the first time in 1974. Since then he has performed in countless concerts in europe, the United States and India. His music has been used in numerous films and documentaries. His exposition of Raga on the sitar is respected and appreciated in music circles in Benares of which he has been a part for over forty years, first as a student and then as a performing artist.
