Yoga for Hip + Back Pain
Led by: Tara Glazier
From August 25, 2024 at 12:30 pm until August 25, 2024 at 2:30 pm at Dumbo
This unique therapeutic workshop is geared toward any age or level of student that is interested in understanding and experiencing how to free themselves from hip and back pain. The hip and the back are inextricably linked. If the hips are gripped, the pelvis out of alignment, that center “spoke of the wheel”, greatly affects the alignment of the back. We will first work to “unravel” and release gripping patterns. We will learn how to neutralize the body, come out of compensation and into anatomical neutral where there is less strain on the joints and hip flexors. In terms of spine we have to re-learn in a way, where our natural curves are. As the body neutralizes and breath revitalizes, from there we can start the “work”.
Secondly, we will focus on particular exercises to strengthen the deep core muscles, create space within the vertebral column, and freedom in the larger sheath muscles of the back and hip which tend to grip. Learn applied anatomy through asana (poses) for your therapeutic needs and find a deep healing with simple- moderate poses aimed at clearing hip & back pain.
Inspired by owner Tara Glazier’s personal journey from debilitating back pain to healing and revitalization through yoga, she is always grateful to share what she learned from her teachers and experiences. With over 25 years sharing yoga in classes, training, and privates, Tara has helped many students over the years find healing and freedom in the lower body.
