Yin Yoga: Structure & Stillness
Teacher Training
with Narisara Vanichanan
Schedule:
July 25th, Thursday — 6-8pm
July 26th, Friday — 5-8pm
July 27th, Saturday — 12-4:30pm
July 28th, Sunday — 12-4:30pm
plus additional homework, journaling and reflections
Examine Yin Yoga poses in depth, including their benefits and contraindications, history & philosophy. Explore this subtle practice as a complement to more dynamic and active movement. In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes to activate safe and positive stress on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body. Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints, while enhancing the body’s energetic flow. Emphasizing stillness and reflection, the practice of Yin Yoga prepares the body and the mind for dharana (concentration), dhyana (contemplation), and samadhi (unity).
COURSE OVERVIEW
Review major fundamental poses of Yin Yoga
Practice traditional yin postures to experience their benefits personally and immediately
Review anatomy and physiology of bones, muscles, and organs affected by a yin practice
Explore connective tissue, fascia, and principles of tension and compression
Review theory, history, and the science of the yin practice
Examine how to work with injuries and conditions, anatomical considerations, and contraindications

Discuss sequencing and complementary practices
This course is open to yoga teachers as well as dedicated yin yoga practitioners.
Students will receive 15 CEUs for registered yoga teachers or toward Yoga Alliance accredited 300-hr RYT certification.
