Introduction to Qigong

Introduction to Qigong

Led by: Jennifer Burch

From April 10, 2013 at 8:15 pm until April 24, 2013 at 9:30 pm at Dumbo

“Qi” means vital or life energy, and “gong” means work or cultivation. An ancient word for Qigong, Guan, emphasizes that it is a path of observation. The forms of Qigong provide ways to access a powerful, gentle energy that has a profound capacity to heal and to create balance, or harmony. Classical Chinese medicine, acupuncture, taiji, and some forms of martial arts are rooted in Qigong. In these three sessions, Jennifer will share practices from the Emei Zhengong School as taught to her by Master Zhongxian Wu. Each week will be the same, providing the opportunity for you to experience and cultivate Qi, as well as to establish a self-standing Qigong practice through repetition. The sessions will include:1. Shaking (Dou) – the ritual of the heart, inner dancing/drumming.Waking up the energy and consciousness of the body, opening the energygates and meridians to allow free flow of Qi.2. Three Treasures Form – standing form practice to refine Jing (lifesource/body), Qi (vital energy), Shen (spirit) through connecting tothe three layers of the universe: Heaven, Earth, Humanity.3. Meditation & Closing PracticeThis practice is appropriate for people of any age or with any healthcondition, modifications can be made for anyone.
