An Afternoon with the Bhagavad Gita

An Afternoon with the Bhagavad Gita

Led by: Bill Mahony

From November 23, 2014 at 12:00 pm until November 23, 2014 at 3:45 pm at Dumbo

One of the most important of yogic texts, the Bhagavad Gita, the “Song of the Lord,” can be understood from many perspectives. In this set of teachings we hear how Lord Krishna leads his disciple and beloved friend Arjuna to his heart so that Arjuna can live a life of responsible service to the world in the embrace of divine love. Accordingly, we will focus on the Bhagavad Gita’s teachings regarding a yogic life oriented toward dharma and infused with bhakti. Informed by verses from this Song and guided by Bill, we will discuss ways the Bhagavad Gita’s teachings can illumine our way as contemporary yogis and yoginis faced with responsibilities, challenges and opportunities in a life textured by a spirit of service and love.Since yogic study is supported by a refreshed body and mind, Tara Glazier will lead a session of asana practice woven into our discussion of the Gita. The session will conclude with a period of meditation. 0/0 (after 11/15)Saturday & Sunday 0/10 (after 11/15)
