Therapeutic Assessment & Applied Therapeutics for Teachers Part 1 Focus: Knee, Hip, Low Back Pain. In this 3 hour workshop ( a perfect development from the Hands on workshop), we will dive into Therapeutic “assessment”. This workshop is perfect for those desiring to become more skillful in private yoga sessions or for those teachers looking to sharpen their eye for their public classes and etc. Assessment is a skills that takes patience and practice. We will look at various bodies/ patterns to understand better ( for eg: flexion/ extension patterns, tight psoas/ weak psoas, over-developed traps/ under developed rhomboids). Students will be given an assessment form to practice and to see the relationship between lower/ upper body, front body/ back body, lower leg/ hip, shoulder/ neck and etc with different bodies. After assessment,... So, now what? As teachers looking to go to the next level, we also need tools and specific exercises to help those specific patterns. This is where our applied anatomy becomes “applied”. How do we help our private student with knee, hip, or low back pain? How do we offer therapeutic options for those inside of our public open class? These situations can be stressful and without knowledge, we can feel frustrated. While yoga teachers are not Doctor’s, and shouldn’t be regarded as such, we can help in simple ways to bring more space, anatomical stability, and prana/ breath so that our students may improve discomfort and lead to greater health and well being.
