The Power of Clear Seeing and Speech; Observation & Verbal Instruction Friday, October 13th, 3-5PM How we really see our students affects how we verbally instruct. With the power of clear seeing, a new perspective may come to life; seeing the student that stands with all the weight on one foot, seeing how the class is holding their breath, seeing many students having wrist pain in a full wheel pose. All of this can impact our next instruction, becoming more helpful as opposed to just going by rote.Having a full presence and clear seeing during class makes the class experience more alive and integrated for everyone. Observation is step #1. Now, how do we articulate what we want to say in the most impactful, clear, and simplistic way? Have you noticed as a teacher, sometimes your instructions work really well and other times, not as much? What is it that creates the power for the student to apply what you say? You could call it “vac”, the power of the spoken word, or “shakti” (energy/power) that is coming to life through your voice. That all sounds so poetic, but HOW do we get the words out and HOW do they become powerful? Learn specific tools applied to what you observe by utilizing different kinds of instructions with: Active Language, Reflective Language, Kramatic (sequential) Instruction, Instruction with the Knowledge of Anatomy and Instruction with the Power of Breath.
