The Artful Sequence Friday, December 8th, 2-5:30PM An asana sequence can be a journey or a task.  A well developed sequence can not only open up the body properly and prepare for more advanced postures, but it can draw the student into an experience. What a gift it is as a student to be able to let go and enjoy the waves of the sequence instructed by the teacher.  In that letting go, the student may open up to something more, and the best part is, they didn’t even know it was happening! That is the “art of the sequence”. First, it is important to understand the basics of sequencing: What poses in what order and WHY as it applies to our anatomy? What poses need to precede twists, backbends, inversions? How do you get your students prepped for more uplevel poses? How to teach for 1 hour vs 1.5 hrs. Second, within the basic template of sequencing, the teacher then becomes the artist. Once we identify the “purpose” for the class, the sequence can come to life. This workshop is perfect for the teacher who:-Feels that they are “stuck” in their way and looking for new inspiration-Wants to know WHY certain poses work at some times and not others-Desires more knowledge for a therapeutically sound sequence-Wants to create an “experience” through their sequence alone
