Women's Night of Movement
Led by: Sandra Levykh
From June 7, 2019 at 8:00 pm until June 7, 2019 at 10:00 pm at Gowanus
Women’s Night is an ongoing monthly project that serves as a safe space for women to be free as their full, unadulterated selves. The workshop consists of conscious dance exercises exploring space, meditation, and play as a form of connection and trust-building with self and community. Through this project, Sandra seeks to facilitate a movement journey using dance as medicine. Accessing a connection between the body and one’s spirit allows us to witness and honor our present moment, to see life as it is without judgment or resistance. Participants are encouraged to gently show up for themselves with the support of sisterhood. This workshop is an extension of the conscious dance community’s vision to honor body and desire through movement, facilitating the freedom of self-expression.
Sandra Levykh is a life-long mover, dancer and studied Dance at Hunter College. For the past twelve years, she has created movement programs and choreography for youth at Russian Aesthetic Center IDEA and Brighton Kid’s Club. These programs help children discover energetic and spatial awareness through connective games, movement exploration, and improvisation. With adults, Sandra explores the application of movement modalities to facilitate connection with oneself and others. Her work centers around the therapeutic use of dance to heal and express the unconscious; helping participants access their own needs and desires, and form a deeper connection with others.
