Joy Radish

Joy Radish
Joy has been teaching since 2005 on the east and west coasts.  Joy teaches yoga as a ritual in which we retrieve and revive parts of ourselves that may have gone missing or have splintered off from our awareness due to the hustle of life. Through this work, we unbind both physical and emotional knots, and reestablish a sense of basic goodness. Joy has been drawn to teachers who approach yoga non-dogmatically, and in turn is dedicated to offering yoga as a discipline that is adaptable for each individual, so that we no longer force ourselves into illfitting forms and shapes, but explore our unique paths to freedom. Her teaching offers a space for deep self-study based in yogic philosophy/dharma as well as a daring exploration of both the inner and outer bodies. Joy aims to honor the rhythms of life, of nature, and each person in being more of who they are with unconditional acceptance & love. Additionally, Joy is a theatre artist, psychotherapist, vocalist, activist and writer, and brings a lot of art and heart to her teaching practice.  She has taught in yoga schools, studios, jails, public schools, detention centers, settlement houses and in hospitals. Joy has also taught parts of many teacher trainings, and loves working with new teachers deepening their relationship to yoga. Joy holds a master's degree in drama therapy from NYU and works full time as a psychotherapist in inpatient psychiatry. She holds infinite gratitude to Tara and the Abhaya community for creating a home that honors yoga with upmost integrity, care, and support.
