Like many, Marissa came to yoga seeking relief from physical pain, and was rewarded with not only stability of the body but clarity of the mind and spirit. As an urban middle school educator for over 10 years, she sees the potential of yoga to heal and empower by allowing us to be our truest selves and loving who we are, and where we are, in each moment. She believes that yoga is not limited to our mats, but rather a continued practice of love, compassion, and acceptance woven into each part of our lives.Inspired by Sara Neufeld to dive deeper, Marissa completed her 200-hour training at Abhaya under the beautiful teachings of Tara Glazier and Aaron Angel, with additional mentoring from Nancy Rich and Nikos Karalekas. She is grateful to the entire Abhaya community for creating a space for growing and exploring. Marissa is also a musician and certified music teacher, and offers gratitude to her students in all arenas - young and old - who allow her to be a lifelong learner.
