Paula Cunha
Paula's journey began in Brazil, where she was born and raised amid nature and animals. During her teenage years, she played soccer and immersed herself in Capoeira—a dynamic Afro-Brazilian blend of dance, philosophy, and martial arts. Later in life, she passionately embraced Muay Thai before relocating to New York in 2010. The transition to a new country marked the commencement of a process of self-discovery for Paula. Navigating critical junctures in her life—struggling to adapt to a different culture, language, and battling loneliness—she found solace in Yoga, which quickly captured her heart. Determined to delve further into this newfound passion, Paula undertook a 200-hour Yoga Teacher training. This transformative experience not only aided her in overcoming internal struggles but also ignited a fervor within her to share and teach this empowering Yoga practice to a wider audience. An exemplary milestone emerged when Paula completed the 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training under Tara Glazier of Abhaya Yoga in 2016. This comprehensive immersion not only deepened her comprehension of Yoga but also fortified her dedication to guiding others on their journeys. Paula further honed her skills through Intuitive Thai Massage training, seamlessly integrating tactile therapy into her teaching. Additionally, she explored Psychedelics & Somatics, bridging ancient wisdom with modern insights to cultivate a holistic approach. Continuing her exploration of the mind-body connection, Paula pursued Somatic Stress Release Training with Dr. Scott Lyons. This training provided her with a broader toolkit to understand and facilitate her students' self-discovery processes as well as a deeper understanding of the body-mind connection. In her classes, Paula combines Yoga movement and stillness while incorporating elements of martial arts. This creates an environment that nurtures curiosity, self-acceptance, and growth. By unlocking students' strength and mobility, she guides them on a transformative journey toward healing and resilience. Join Paula on a transformative journey, as you discover the realms of healing, self-discovery, and resilience through embodied practices.
