CE17: Therapeutic Hands On Adjustments

CE17: Therapeutic Hands On Adjustments

Led by: Tara Glazier

From November 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm until November 10, 2017 at 5:30 pm at Gowanus

Foundational Standing Poses, Hip Openers, & Backbends Friday, November 10th, 2-5:30PM Offering a student a powerful, healthy, adjustment in an asana can positively shift the experience and open up a whole new realm of understanding. On the flip side, a poor adjustment can create imbalance, or worst case scenario- an injury.  As yoga teachers, we hold the deep responsibility to touch with care and skill (or better to not do so at all!). Education of basic anatomy, alignment of muscles, bones, and ligaments as well as understanding pranic flow, is a great asset to a yoga teacher performing hands on adjustments. In this 2 hour Continuing Education Course, we will observe and practice therapeutic hands on adjustments for Standing Postures, Hip Openers, and Basic Backbends.  We will learn specific adjustments to clear lower back pain, hip clenching, and shoulder tightness while learning how to free up space in different bodies with different patterns. Not only will you practice hands on adjustments but learn WHY and how the anatomy of lower to upper body applies to hands on adjustments on differing bodies. Touching in a clear, sweet, purposeful way can be very healing for a student.  Abhaya’s sensitive, skillful approach to touch has been proven by guiding many, many students into greater freedom and stability. Come and practice your hands on skills while becoming more knowledgable about the anatomical connections between the lower body and upper body.
