Shiva Stories: The Price of an Auspicious World

Shiva Stories: The Price of an Auspicious World

Led by: Douglas Brooks

From March 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm until March 17, 2018 at 5:00 pm at Gowanus

Shiva's name means "auspicious," an idea that is at once familiar to us all and, at the same, time more subtle in meaning than we can usually describe. We'll study a handful of Shiva stories here that bring us both further into the auspicioius--- the place where clarity and ambiguity converge, where simplicity is restored and complexity allows for the power of chaos to open to deeper possibilities. Shiva's myths are not easily told or understood, that is part of their magic, but we will enter these stories without any presumptions. We will enter a forest of sages, we will explain how the world became feverish, and what the power yoga can do to change the world. Shiva is like us all: each a bundle of contradictions looking for love, managing a world that demands everything, and longing for peace.
