Bhava Friday

Led by: Ashleigh Sergeant + DJ Drez

From September 6, 2019 at 6:45 pm until September 6, 2019 at 8:15 pm at Gowanus

Ashleigh and Drez’s classes are a unique blend of super slow flow, long holds and creative movement with a backdrop of spacious soulful beats and world music that create a cozy backdrop for a deeply explorative practice.

Growing up with a yoga teacher as her mother, Ashleigh Sergeant began her exploration of yoga at an early age, dedicated to the pursuit of healing a lifelong spine condition. As the Head of Yoga Content for, Director of Yoga and Movement for The Envision Festival in Costa Rica, and co-founder of The Ālaya Yoga School, Ashleigh Sergeant also spent five years as the Global Yoga Trainer for Adidas and was honored to be the youngest Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor in the world. Her classes are a blend of slow, alignment-based flow with creative sequencing, precise technique and lots of room for personal exploration in non-linear out of the ordinary postures.

Ashleigh’s first teachers include Bryan Kest and Baron Baptiste and she is strongly influenced by Rod Stryker’s ParaYoga. Ashleigh’s present passion is the deep exploration of the mystical and energetic side of yoga practices. For this her primary teacher and long time inspiration is the great Sally Kempton.

DJ Drez’s music has been moving bodies for more than two decades. His sound is an organic blend of mystical hip-hop, reggae roots and Indian raga that has been known to instigate a dance party one instant, and soothe a group into a meditative savasana the next.
