Empathy In Asana: Yoga and Non-Violent Communication

Led by: Cat McCarthy

From May 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm until May 6, 2017 at 5:00 pm at Dumbo

“Out beyond the ideas of wrongdoing and righting, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”- Rumi

Conflict happens, so learn to handle it well. Disputes typically occur when opposing strategies clash while trying to get needs met. Learn to compassionately understand why you do what you do and to unpack your judgments, so that you can begin to shift your awareness.

Guided by NYCNVC facilitator Cat McCarthy, this intro workshop introduces the key concepts of NVC (Non-Violent Communication) as a foundation upon which to build a practice. Exploring new tools of emotional intelligence, you can generate new neural pathways for empathy. With a new relationship to your own feelings and needs, you will create a stronger connection both inside and out.

There will be a mix of asana, playful exercises, and discussion, so please bring a yoga mat, notebook/pen, along with an open heart and a curious mind. Get ready to shift your perspective on a cellular level!
